Job Description:

The Accountant would be responsible for understanding our portfolio of Residential and Commercial properties. The person will work together with our Bookkeeper to ensure our property books are in compliance with general accounting principles. They will work primarily within our property management software, AppFolio, and report to Managers regarding the financial health of each property.

In order to be selected as a candidate, the person will need to have strong and effective communication skills since they will work together with the team and with our clients. The person should be able to work independently and also work together as a team player. They should be extremely attentive to detail and comprehensive. The person should be very organized, reliable, and have a friendly and professional personality.

Job Responsibilities:
The Accountant’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Reconciling bank accounts in AppFolio, our property management software
• Preparing journal entries
• Preparing monthly Owner Statements, Income Statements and other monthly reports with bookkeeper
• Analyzing and interpreting financial data for the team and for investors
• Meeting with and answering questions from investors
• Working with the team to resolve accounting related issues
• Preparing annual CAM Reconciliation for the commercial properties
• Maintaining accurate and organized records in digital and physical filing systems (file cabinets and Dropbox)

Job Qualifications:
• Required:
o Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting
o 1-2 years of accounting experience
o Authorization to work in the United States of America
o Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
o Willingness to undergo background check in accordance with local laws and regulations
o Excellent computer skills (understand the difference between emailing CC and BCC, Reply ALL, use Google Calendar, how to use conference call tools like Google Meet, Zoom)
o Windows 10 experience
o Intermediate to advance level Microsoft Office experience (mostly Word and Excel)
• Preferred (but not required):
o 1-2 years of real estate or property management experience
o Experience with AppFolio property management software
o Experience with Dropbox online cloud file management
o Speak, read, write in a second language (Korean, Chinese, or Spanish) proficiently
